Since the function in FrontPage 2003 “Customize SharePoint List Form” not is valiable in SharePoint Designer 2007 (not that I’ve notice anyway) I need to know how to make a field read-only?!

Very useful!!! comment: for some reason, the "value="blablalba"" attribute in the input field does not have quotes on my portal. So i modified the value-searching part of the script to: s = InputTag.indexOf("value="); e = InputTag.indexOf("name=",s+6)-1; var InputValue = InputTag.substr(s+6,e-s-6); now it works correctly. Nice trick! Very useful!!!

There's already a tag that does it for you. Look at the tag above Modified Date and Created by Date. This tag already changes edit fields to read only.
